How to Join the Freemasons
Robert Burns Lodge Nº 59 in Las Vegas is not for every man — but for the right man, it is life-changing. We are a solemn, philosophical Masonic Lodge rooted in tradition, focused on personal transformation, silence, and study. This page will guide you through how to begin your journey.
Who Can Join?
Freemasonry is not something one is recruited into. You must come freely, of your own will, having heard a quiet call toward light, virtue, and the deeper questions of life.
- ✔ Male, 18 years or older
- ✔ A lawful, moral, and free man
- ✔ Belief in a higher power (no specific religion required)
- ✔ Resident of Las Vegas for at least 6 months
- ✔ Sincere desire for self-improvement and philosophical growth
What the Journey Looks Like
- Initial Contact: You reach out to us using the form linked below.
- Private Interview: A deep philosophical discussion with our Master or Warden.
- Informal Gatherings: You may be invited to post-meeting events to meet the Brethren socially.
- Sponsorship & Petition: Two Brothers must endorse you. You will submit a letter of intent and your petition.
- Investigation: You will be visited by three Brothers at different times for honest conversation about your past, present, and purpose.
- The Final Rite: If approved, you will take part in a final evaluation before a vote is cast by the Lodge.
If accepted, your initiation will mark the beginning of a lifelong path. We expect work, study, silence, discipline — but in return, you may find something few men ever do: a true brotherhood.
Why Robert Burns Lodge?
We are not a conventional Lodge. Robert Burns Nº 59 is an Observant Lodge — one of very few in Nevada. We limit ourselves to 42 members. We meet in candlelight. We chant, we write, we memorize, we reflect. We embrace the serious work of transformation, not ceremony for show.
- ✦ Profound rituals and sacred silence
- ✦ Emphasis on classical philosophy, freedom and moral self-examination
- ✦ Required memorization, reading, writing and personal work
- ✦ Rich history and connection to the Enlightenment
